And the snow fell once more in Bedford

Over a foot of snow fell on Thursday and we got around to grooming it the morning. Very fluffy snow and it will warm up today making it soft (but doable) for skate technique. Powder Hill is groomed for Skate although there are a few thin spots where the evergreens overhang the trail so be careful. Brook trail and 2 ball fields are groomed for skate and classic. Not too many days left so get out and enjoy it.

Canadian Ski Marathon

BXCSC is proud to congratulate 8 members on their participation in the Canadian Ski Marathon in Montabello, Quebec.

The CSM is both North America’s oldest and its longest cross country ski event. Unlike most marathons the CSM is not a race. Instead each skier challenges themselves at their own level of ability. The two day event is divided into 5 sections each day. The goal is for each skier to work their way up to Coureur des Bois gold, covering the entire 100 miles in two days, and sleeping outdoors overnight. Multiple BXCSC skiers have reached gold status in the past, and plan to do so again in the future, with the aspiration of earning their “permanent bib” when they have completed the gold 5 times.

Lary Nice 84 miles this year (past recipient of bronze, silver, gold, and Weber Touring award)

Tom Tomai 60 miles this year (raced multiple times)

Peter Goedecke 60 miles this year, completing the half marathon (past recipient of bronze, silver and gold)

Jonathan Goedecke 60 miles this year, completing the half marathon at 12 years old (past participant in the Taster)

Alan Goedecke 25 miles this year, receiving the Silver Tip award (past participant in the Taster)
